Beloved Actress Passed Away At Age Of 91

The great Albanian actress, Margarita Xhepa, died on Thursday at the age of 91.

Xhepa was born on April 2, 1934 in Lushnje.

During her career, she has performed over 150 roles in theater and 32 roles in cinema.

The Albanian cinematographic icon is considered one of the “Great Ladies” of Albanian theater and film, who started in the 60s.

Some of the characters she played during her career are Zyraka in “The Early Years” (1965), Shano in “The Last Winter” (1976), the pianist in “Concert in 1936” (1978) and Lena in “Bloody Land” (1976).

Margarita Xhepa has also performed in world dramaturgy roles such as Ophelia in “Hamlet”, the second daughter in “King Lear”, the nanny in “Romeo and Juliet”, Queen Margaret in “Richard III”, Lady Milford in the drama “Intrigue and Love” (F. Schiller), Mela in the drama “Moral of Mrs. Dulska” (G. Zapolska), Dafina in the dramatization of the novel “Dead River” (J. Xoxa) and the mother in the staging of Kadare’s novel, “Who Brought Doruntina”, and many others, writes TCH.

In 2007, the actress was awarded the “Career Award” for her role as Nadjezhna in the monodrama “Swan Song”, and was also decorated with the title of “People’s Artist”.
