The day began in chaos as I juggled two jobs and realized I’d forgotten to leave lunch money for my son, Caleb. When I called to apologize, he casually mentioned he’d just check the cereal box where his dad sometimes hides money. My heart stopped—Marcus had a stash? The next day, I used some of the money for a luxurious spa day—hair, nails, massage. I needed to feel like a person again. When Marcus saw me, I told him I found the stash.
