Kicking off the event, performers Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett set the stage before handing it over to the main act, Kid Rock. At 55, the rocker took charge of the conservative-backed livestream, hailed as a cultural counterpoint to the NFL’s mainstream performance.
However, as soon as Kid Rock appeared on stage, many viewers noticed a recurring problem.
Accusations of lip-syncing quickly surfaced.

Adding fuel to the fire were old clips from a 2001 Saturday Night Live showing, featuring a joke about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, then only 14. He said, “Why is every guy in America waiting on these chicks to turn 18? … I mean – you know what I say – if there’s grass on the field, play ball.”
Such remarks reignited backlash.
