‘Today’ show host husband passes away at 45

The Today show family is mourning the loss of Uche Ojeh, husband of longtime co-host Sheinelle Jones, who passed away at 45 after battling glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer.

The news was shared live on the May 23 broadcast, with co-hosts expressing deep sadness and support for Sheinelle and their three children: 15-year-old Kayin and 12-year-old twins Clara and Uche. Savannah Guthrie called Uche “an incredible person” and praised his devotion as a father and husband.

Uche and Sheinelle had been married for 18 years, having met at Northwestern University and enduring eight years of long-distance before marrying in Philadelphia in 2007. Known for his warmth, quiet strength, faith, and dedication to family, Uche never missed his children’s events and stayed connected to his Nigerian heritage.

Sheinelle had been away from the show caring for him and broke her silence with a heartfelt thank-you message following the tribute. The Today family and viewers continue to offer their love and support during this difficult time.
