To rekindle their flame, a woman decides to take her husband out on a date. He refused, confessing he was ashamed of her, only to learn a valuable lesson later from one of his close friends.
Jack and Mary had been married for 23 years and had four children who required daily care from Mary.
Their everyday routines were different from one another. Jack would come home from work, lie on the couch, and watch television till dinner. Meanwhile, Mary worked all day, making dinner, washing everyone’s clothes, looking after their youngest child, and helping the other kids with their homework.
Mary had been fantasizing about going on a date because she and her husband hadn’t done it in a long time.
When Mary looked in the mirror, she was saddened by what she saw. She didn’t look like the women in the movies.
She now saw a tired, sorrowful old woman rather than the cheerful young girl she once was.
When Jack arrived from work the next day, she sat him down at the table for dinner.
“Jack, I was thinking… maybe we can go on a date? There’s a nice place that opened downtown. Maybe we can go check it out,” she suggested.
Instead of feeling touched by Mary’s gesture, Jack became annoyed. “Look at you!” he told Mary. “You look terrible. I’m not going anywhere with you.”
Mary was hurt by her husband’s harsh words, especially since she had just finished cleaning the house.
Mary’s eyes flooded with tears. “Even when you cry, you look terrible. Do you want the truth? I’m ashamed of you. I can’t take you out like this,” Jack said before walking out the front door.
Jack visited his friend Samuel’s place and invited him to a bar for a beverage. But Samuel quickly turned him down. “Sorry, mate. I’m going on a date with my wife. There’s this new place downtown I wanna take her to.”
Jack was irritated when his friend declined to go to the bar with his wife. Then he noticed Samuel’s wife walking down the stairs. She looked stunning in her clothing and smiled broadly as she clutched flowers in her arms.
Jack was astonished by what he had just witnessed. “Sam, your wife is beautiful, and you two look so in love! My wife always looks miserable. She barely ever smiles nowadays,” he said.
Samuel shook his head and decided to give Jack some useful advice. “You know, mate. I make every single day special for my wife. She’s the light of our home. She deserves all the love and appreciation from me.”
Jack nodded, recognizing Samuel’s words was exactly what Mary had been trying to tell him before. “Thanks, Sam. Well, enjoy your date tonight. I’ll go back home now.”
When Jack returned home, he had a gift for Mary. “I’m sorry for hurting you with my words earlier today.”
“Would you like to go out on a date with me tomorrow? I booked us a table at that cool place downtown…”
Mary stared at Jack with amazement. She was overjoyed and flashed the bright smile she used to give him every day when they were kids.
The next day, Jack witnessed Mary transform right before his eyes. She looked stunning, and he was reminded that he had the most gorgeous woman by his side.
Since then, Mary and Jack have made it a point to improve their relationship. They restored their relationship, which worked wonders not only for them but also for their family.
