Posted on February 25, 2026

Yeison Jiménez, a Colombian singer-songwriter known for música popular, has died at age 34.

On Saturday, Jan. 10, a plane with the registration N325FA crashed in the area between Paipa and Duitama, Colombia, according to the country’s Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics. The aircraft was traveling to Medellín, and all six people on board were killed.

Jiménez and members of his team were later confirmed among the victims after a representative shared the news in a statement on his Instagram account.

A statement from Yeison Jiménez’s team confirmed his death with “deep sorrow,” describing him not only as an artist, but as a loving son, brother, friend, and a man who turned his life story into hope for others. The small plane, believed to be owned by Jiménez’s company, YJ Company SAS, crashed shortly after takeoff around 4 p.m. local time. Jiménez had been traveling to Medellín, near Marinilla, where he was scheduled to perform that night.

Per PEOPLE, just moments before the crash, Jiménez’s photographer, Weisman Mora, shared a short video on Instagram showing the view from inside the plane as it taxied on the runway. Video recorded after the crash shows the aircraft engulfed in flames as emergency responders attempted to put out the fire.

Authorities confirmed that all six people on board were killed. The Technical Directorate for Accident Investigation is investigating the cause of the crash.

Yeison Jiménez was a Colombian singer-songwriter and one of the most recognizable stars of música popular, a genre known for emotional songs about love, heartbreak, and real-life struggles. He was born in Colombia and rose from a difficult upbringing to become a major figure in the country’s music scene.

Jiménez gained fame for his raw, heartfelt lyrics and powerful voice, connecting deeply with fans through songs about perseverance, pain, and hope. His music blended traditional Latin influences with modern storytelling, helping bring música popular to a younger and wider audience. Over the years, he released multiple successful albums and singles, earned millions of streams, and sold out concerts across Colombia and beyond.

Jiménez is survived by his wife and three children.
