At 98, a Hollywood Legend Quietly Celebrates a Life of Love and Legacy. After Knowing Who Is He You Will Be Surprised

Posted on April 27, 2026

Screen icon William Daniels, renowned for his memorable roles in the Oscar-winning The Graduate and the hit 1980s series Knight Rider, recently marked his 98th birthday with a quiet celebration in Los Angeles. The World War II veteran was spotted at Art’s Deli, enjoying a relaxed outing alongside his wife of 73 years, actress Bonnie Bartlett, an Emmy Award winner in her own right. Their remarkable marriage, which began in 1951, stands as one of the longest enduring relationships in Hollywood history.

For the occasion, Daniels kept it casual, sporting a blue sweater beneath a gray windbreaker, with matching gray trousers and white sneakers. His instantly recognizable voice—famous for bringing life to KITT, the talking car in Knight Rider—remains a hallmark of his storied career. Aside from his voice acting, Daniels is widely admired for his portrayal of Mr. Feeny in the beloved 1990s sitcom Boy Meets World, as well as his role as Mr. Braddock in The Graduate.

Speaking about his birthday, Daniels said he simply wished for “peace and quiet.” Bonnie reflected on the deeper meaning of the day, noting how rare such a lasting union is in the acting world. Daniels also shared that he continues to stay professionally active, emphasizing the value of remaining engaged. Bonnie added that he recently took on voice work reminiscent of his iconic KITT role, underscoring his ongoing connection to the characters that defined his career. Daniels expressed heartfelt thanks to fans for their continued support, saying he hopes to celebrate many more birthdays to come.

Their enduring relationship began in college and has endured both highs and lows. The couple faced heartbreak early on with the loss of their first child, William Jr., who passed shortly after birth in 1961. They later expanded their family by adopting two sons, Michael and Robert. Daniels’ path to acting gained momentum after his military service in World War II, eventually leading to a rich career across Broadway, film, and television.

William Daniels’ 98th birthday is more than a milestone—it’s a celebration of a life well-lived, marked by iconic roles, deep personal resilience, and a marriage that’s become legendary in its own right. From his early days performing in a family singing group to decades of acclaimed work on screen, Daniels continues to be a beloved figure whose legacy endures in Hollywood and beyond.
