I took him home and told him the story of the worst mistake I ever made.
We had gone out to celebrate Leo’s straight-A report card. Our waiter, Sam, had Down syndrome and spoke slowly while taking our order.
Leo laughed at the way he talked, texted jokes to a friend, and even imitated the way Sam walked.
