Before the tragedy, Katie Piper was a cheerful young woman passionate about modeling and television.
Beautiful, smiling, ambitious, she slowly but surely made her way into the world of media.
But everything came to an abrupt end in March 2008, when she was 24 years old: a man hired by her ex threw sulfuric acid in her face right on the street in London.
The horrific act left Katie disfigured and blind in one eye. The burns were so severe that doctors had to completely remove the skin from her face and replace it with grafts.
She underwent more than 400 operations, accompanied by unbearable pain. But what amazes most is not the suffering, but the incredible strength with which she was able to rise.
