Riona’s strength was incredible, but no dog should ever have to endure what she went through.

She was found in a Memphis neighborhood after someone allegedly set her on [fi.re], and neighbors rushed to save her by using water from hoses and swimming pools to put out the [fl.am.es]. Thanks to their quick actions, Riona survived and was rushed into veterinary care.
The young Pit Bull mix suffered [de.vast.ating] [bu.rns] over much of her body and spent months undergoing surgeries, [w.ou.nd] care, pain management, and rehabilitation. Despite everything she endured, her caregivers said she never lost her loving spirit and continued greeting people with a wagging tail.
As Riona healed, thousands of supporters followed her recovery and called for justice. In 2024, the man [ch.arg.ed] in the [ca.se] received a plea deal that included a [pr.ison se.nte.nce], a lifetime [b.a.n] on owning animals, and an order to pay [re.stit.uti.on]. While many felt the [pu.nishm.ent] did not match the [cr.uel.ty] of the crime, they remained grateful that he was held accountable.
The best part of Riona’s story came long before the court case ended.
After months of treatment and recovery, Riona was adopted into a loving forever home, where she finally found the safety, comfort, and happiness every dog deserves.
