Pick your favorite dress and find out what it says about the wonderful woman you are today.

Posted on November 1, 2026

Ladies, let’s be honest. We’ve all spent plenty of time standing in front of the closet, wondering which outfit feels just right for the day. Whether it’s for a Sunday brunch with your best friends, a grandbaby’s graduation, or a nice dinner out with your husband, what we wear says a lot about the woman inside.

I found this lovely little collection of dresses today and it got me thinking about all the different, wonderful personalities we have in our circle. Each color and cut tells a story of a life well-lived. Take a look at these six options and pick the one that makes you smile. Don’t overthink it—just choose the one you’d feel most like yourself in.

Pick a dress and discover what it says about the wonderful woman you are today

1. The Sweet Light Blue

If you reached for the light blue dress, you are the calm in the middle of any storm. You’ve always had a gentle spirit and a way of making people feel at ease just by walking into a room. People probably say you have a “soft touch.” You’re the friend who listens more than you talk, the one who always has a spare sweater or a kind word ready for anyone who looks a bit down. You value peace and harmony, and you’ve spent your life building a home that feels like a sanctuary. You find joy in the simple things—a quiet morning cup of tea, a good book, or a clean house.

2. The Emerald Green Showstopper

Ooh, look at you! If you went straight for the green, you’ve still got that fire in your soul. You are a woman of confidence and sophistication. You’ve never been one to just blend into the wallpaper; you like to stand out and lead the way. You are probably the one who organizes the neighborhood parties or keeps the family on track when things get chaotic. You’re strong, you’re independent, and you’ve earned every bit of that wisdom you carry. You handle life’s ups and downs with a certain “pizzazz” that everyone around you admires.

3. The Pretty Soft Pink

Number three is for the lady who is truly the heart and soul of her family. You are organized, traditional, and you appreciate the finer details in life. You likely have a home filled with framed photos and a kitchen that always smells like something delicious. You’re the “matriarch” in the best sense of the word—you believe in good manners, showing up on time, and making sure everyone is well-fed and happy. You have a polished, graceful way about you that makes people respect you the moment they meet you.

4. The Sunny Yellow Flare

If you picked the yellow dress, you are pure sunshine! Even if you’ve seen a lot of years, your heart still feels like it’s twenty-five. You are an optimist through and through, always looking for the silver lining in every cloud. You love to laugh—usually at yourself first—and you’re likely the one the grandkids go to when they want to have some real fun. You remind us all that life is a gift and we shouldn’t take things too seriously. Your energy is contagious, and you have a knack for making even a trip to the grocery store feel like a little adventure.

5. The Lavender Lace

You are a romantic soul, dear. If you chose the lavender lace, you probably have a deep love for history, gardening, and all things beautiful. You are gentle, sentimental, and maybe a little bit old-fashioned in the loveliest way. You’re the kind of woman who keeps every handwritten card she’s ever received and treasures a sprig of dried flowers from a special day. You have a very nurturing nature and a quiet, creative spirit. You see the world with a bit of “poetry” in your eyes, and people love coming to you when they need to feel understood.

6. The Elegant Navy Blue
Finally, if you went for the navy blue, you are the “rock” of your world. You are grounded, wise, and incredibly dependable. You don’t need a lot of flash or ruffles to show your worth—you know who you are and you’re comfortable in your own skin. You’ve navigated life with dignity and a quiet strength that has seen you through every challenge. You’re the person everyone calls when they need a straight answer or a shoulder to lean on. You are timeless, classic, and you have a sense of humor that is as sharp as a tack.

  • I decided to surprise my husband by bringing lunch to his hospital. But when one of his closest coworkers saw me standing there with a bag of food, the look on his face immediately changed. He glanced at the bag, then at me, before asking quietly, “Wait… Lucas hasn’t told you?” Lucas and I had been married for 11 years. Being the wife of a trauma surgeon meant understanding that emergencies could happen at any hour, and I’d spent most of our marriage trying to accept that. I admired my husband for helping people through some of the worst moments of their lives. Still, I couldn’t help wishing he had more time for his own family. During the past year, things had become especially difficult. Our 8-year-old daughter, Emma, and I had gotten used to eating dinner without him. Most evenings, I put his portion away before we even sat down at the table. He had missed Thanksgiving, our wedding anniversary, and even Emma’s birthday celebration. There were also nights when he didn’t come home at all. Whenever I asked what was happening, his answers were always similar. “We don’t have enough doctors tonight, Nat.” “Something came up during surgery.” “Don’t stay awake waiting for me, okay?” I sometimes wanted to tell him how lonely our home had become. But whenever he finally returned, he looked completely drained, and I couldn’t bring myself to start an argument. One night, I woke up around 3 a.m. and noticed Lucas sitting on the edge of our mattress. His elbows rested on his knees, and both hands covered his face. “Lucas? Honey, what’s wrong?” He quickly rubbed his eyes before turning toward me. “Nothing. It’s just been a really hard shift.” I moved closer. “Do you want to tell me about it? You know you can talk to me.” He gave me a weak smile. “I’m okay, Nat. Get some sleep.” Before I could say anything else, he lay down and rolled onto his side, facing away from me. I stayed awake for a while, wondering what was weighing so heavily on him. The following Tuesday, Lucas left for work looking just as tired as he had the night before. Watching him drive away, I decided I wanted to do something thoughtful for him. I prepared his favorite sandwich, added a generous slice of homemade apple pie, and placed everything in a paper lunch bag. Then I wrote a little message and tucked it inside. “You spend every day looking after other people. Please let me look after you sometimes, too.” I hoped the surprise might brighten his day. During the drive to the hospital, I imagined finding him between patients and sitting together for a few peaceful minutes. It had been so long since we’d enjoyed a conversation without someone calling his phone or rushing him back to work. I wanted to ask how he was really doing and, for once, have enough time to listen. When I reached the hospital, I headed toward the nurses’ station, hoping someone could tell me where Lucas was. That’s when I recognized Adrian, one of his closest colleagues. Adrian wasn’t a stranger to our family. He had visited our home several times and had even attended Emma’s birthday parties. “Adrian! Hi!” I called, walking toward him. He turned around, and I smiled as I lifted the lunch bag. “I thought I’d surprise Lucas with something homemade. Do you know where I can find him?” Adrian stopped walking. For a moment, he said absolutely nothing. His eyes moved toward the bag in my hand, then slowly returned to my face. The friendly greeting I’d expected never came. “Adrian?” I asked. “Is something wrong?” He glanced over his shoulder toward the hallway, looking as though he was trying to decide what to say. A terrible feeling began to settle in my stomach. I gripped the handles of the paper bag more tightly. “Please, just tell me. Is Lucas all right? Did something happen?” Adrian looked at me again, his expression growing even more uncomfortable. Then he lowered his voice and asked, “Lucas hasn’t told you?” Continue reading in the first comment… See less Comments
